Butler County Regional Transit Authority is creating a multimodal transportation center at 97 W Chestnut Street, the former site of Talawanda High School. This facility will provide a one-stop transfer location for BCRTA services in Oxford and serving Miami University, as well as connections to Hamilton and other regional destinations. The facility will also include “back of house” transit operations including indoor vehicle storage, vehicle fueling, vehicle washing, and maintenance areas. Also known as The Chestnut Street Multimodal Station and Shared Service Facility.

The station is expected to be open by Fall of 2025.
The Chestnut Street Station was funded with a variety of Federal, State, and Local funds. The majority of funding was provided by the USDOT Federal Transit Administration. Miami University also contributed the 40-year land lease and $1.6M. BCRTA provided more than $3M in locally generated revenues. No Butler County property taxes or other county funds are included in the project.
The project currently under construction includes passenger waiting areas, restrooms, and real time displays that are intended to serve bus riders as well as future Amtrak service located immediately to the east of the facility. However, the Amtrak platform is a separate project being coordinated by the City of Oxford expected to open after the Chestnut Street Station
The Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) will staff and operate the facility as well as maintain the facility and grounds leased to the BCRTA by Miami University.
BCRTA is working closely with Miami University and the City of Oxford to ensure adequate public parking is made available at the facility. BCRTA’s lease parcel provided by Miami University does not include parking areas for private autos.
BCRTA is working with providers to encourage regional interlining services like Greyhound to make stops at the facility. Regional or local providers that would like to use the facility as part of their services may contact BCRTA directly to coordinate.
