March 4, 2021
Hamilton, Ohio – Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) and Richard L. Bowen & Associates Inc. are happy to announce a contract signing for the Architecture & Engineering of the Chestnut Street Multimodal Transportation Facility in Oxford, Ohio.
The Multimodal Transportation Facility will be designed as a community gathering space for intermodal trips by foot, bike, train, scooter, and bus. BCRTA is excited to work with Bowen on this project as they have a vast background in understanding public transportation needs in both functionality and aesthetics. Bowen’s design of Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) McKinley Avenue facility really stood out to the evaluation team.
During the approximately one (1) year design and engineering of the facility, the team will be looking for feedback from local stakeholders including Miami University, citizens of Oxford, and local elected officials. BCRTA hopes this project can be a catalyst for additional growth around the Chestnut Fields site.
Additionally, the project will also work in coordination with the City of Oxford’s architecture & engineering contractor for the Amtrak Platform Station which will be adjacent to the Multimodal Facility.
Matthew Dutkevicz, Executive Director of BCRTA said, “The Oxford Multimodal Station has been a long process and we are looking forward to having real momentum on this transformational regional project. We’re pleased to work with RL Bowen & Associates and are confident they will bring the professionalism and transportation expertise to this project that BCRTA and the community expect.”
“On behalf of the entire Bowen Team, we are extremely excited to work with the BCRTA, Miami University and the citizens of Oxford on this exciting transit project! We look forward to a great collaboration on the planning and design of this facility. We believe that the end result will be a transit facility the everyone will be extremely proud of!” said Ken Emling, Principal of RLBA.
